Course: Beyond the Screen

Woods in a Room

[modula id=”86″]

Lecturer: Paul Dennis

Semester: WS22/23

Course: Individual Projekt

Performende: Alix

“Woods in a Room” is a project that puts the experience of a room at the forefront. The exhibition space is a living room that is furnished with old fir trees found on the street. Through a single light source and metallic sound in the background, the festive atmosphere typically associated with Christmas trees is stripped away. This room aims to evoke curiosity and create a juxtaposition between the beautiful and the absurd.

Medusa

[modula id=”114″]

Lecturer: Nuri Ovüc

Semester: SS23

Course: Gruppen Projekt

Our project offers a new interpretation of the Medusa mythology from ancient Greece. Instead of the traditional, predominantly male perspective, we tell Medusa’s story from her own point of view. In a VR game, the player assumes the role of Perseus and uncovers Medusa’s experiences through diary entries. We address sensitive topics like assault and victim blaming in a modern context.

We place special emphasis on visual design, featuring contrasting worlds, sound design, visual effects, custom-designed objects, lighting design, and photogrammetry. Each team member created their own level, experimenting with various techniques.

(how)_pretty?!

[modula id=”77″]

Performende: Lilli Fischer

MakeUp: Lilli Schaumburg

„Pretty privilege“ describes the bias of favoring people based on their attractiveness. The artwork „(how)_pretty?!)“ explores this phenomenon. The butterfly serves as a metaphor for „pretty privilege“—its beauty protects it from predators, similar to how attractive people receive preferential treatment. The presentation examines metamorphosis and poses the question: „Why are you so beautiful?“ It illustrates how beauty and its perception develop while critiquing the system of objectification.
